Academic Advising at Johns Hopkins School of Education is a collaborative and ongoing process that engages a team of professional academic advisers partnering with program faculty mentors.
Throughout your academic journey, Academic Advising is ready to engage with you to navigate requirements toward successful degree completion as well as to explore campus resources that help you to make meaningful personal and professional decisions.
Program faculty complement the advising process in a mentoring role, serving as knowledgeable professionals who provide insights into academic, research and professional modeling topics that are important and relevant to you.
Our aim is to guide you throughout your graduate degree program so that you maximize all that Johns Hopkins University has to offer in support of your success, so that you will emerge confident of your knowledge and skills, engaged in your community, and ready to pursue your career ambitions.

Meet the Academic Advising Team
Kathie Sindt
Director of Academic Advising
Even after 2-+ years of being an academic adviser, Kathie remains motivated and in the field because of the gratitude students express when her assistance has helped a student navigate the university. She holds a PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Virginia, a master’s in Counseling from the University of Maryland, and a bachelor’s in Biology from Allegheny College. During the summer, you can find Kathie at a Disney park or with dirt under her fingernails from her vegetable garden.
