Yiying Xiong

Yiying Xiong, PhD

Assistant Professor

Yiying Xiong, assistant professor in counseling and human development, joined the School of Education faculty in 2018. She graduated from Ohio University with a degree in Counselor Education and Supervision (CACREP). Yiying is passionate about promoting the mental health of clients with diverse cultural backgrounds. Her research interests include counseling minority clients with a focus on international students, group counseling, mindfulness practice, and the development of multicultural competence in counselor trainees. She has presented at numerous national and international conferences and published in peer-reviewed journals. Yiying also serves as a reviewer for peer-reviewed journals and conferences. She is a National Certificated Counselor and chairing the research committee for the Association for Specialists in Group Work (ASGW).  She is also the faculty advisor for the Lambda chapter of Chi Sigma Iota.
