Hyunhee Kim is an assistant professor in the counseling program at the Johns Hopkins School of Education. She received her PhD from Penn State University. Prior to becoming a counselor educator, Hyunhee had professional counseling experiences working with children, adolescents, college students, and adults in schools and community settings. As a school counselor educator, she is interested in theory-informed school counseling practice to promote student’s academic success, social emotional wellbeing, and college and career readiness. She is particularly interested in protective factors that help students thrive, regardless of the adversity that they may encounter. She serves as a leadership fellow for the Evidence-Based School Counseling Conference. She serves as an editorial board member for Journal of Counseling and Development and Counseling Scholarship & Practice in Educational Communities.
