Our Mission

SDS leads the university in ensuring accessible and inclusive educational experiences for students with disabilities by proactively removing barriers, raising awareness of equitable practices, and fostering an appreciation of disability as an area of diversity while utilizing a wide range of collaborative approaches from individualized accommodations to universal design.

Who We Serve

SDS advises Johns Hopkins graduate and undergraduate students with disabilities on available services and accommodations.

  • 6% of the student population across Johns Hopkins University (university-wide) receives services from SDS.
  • 5% of students at the Johns Hopkins School of Education receive services from SDS.

Requests for Accommodations

SDS is using a new database called Accommodation Information Management. All requests for accommodations starting with Fall 2022 will be processed through AIM.

Please note: Students who are still in the process of getting accommodations approved or submitting documentation should contact SDS at the email address for your school below if you have any questions about next steps in that process. The AIM Student Portal will be available to you once you are approved to use accommodations.

Student Disability Services is a central JHU office that advises students with disabilities on available services and accommodations, with the goal of providing an equitable experience to all students. Students can apply for accommodations and submit necessary supporting documentation using the AIM Student Portal.

A full description of the range of services is available through the university-wide accessibility and accommodations site. Johns Hopkins University also has Grievance Procedures for Students with Disabilities available for students who disagree with an accommodations determination or have concerns about accommodations or services.
