This is for every kid from the hood who has dreams and aspirations to become something other than what is expected of them.

“My parents came from Mexico to the United States to work in the agricultural fields in Northern California. They worked tirelessly day and night. They almost always had two jobs, and sometimes even three, to help provide the best life for my brothers and me. I didn’t know it at the time, but they were showing me what it takes to succeed in life.

This accomplishment isn’t just for me, it’s for my family who never lost faith in me when I wanted to give up. This is for every kid from the hood who has dreams and aspirations to become something other than what is expected of them. Most importantly, this is for my parents because hard work does pay off. I’m living proof of that. I’m the result of all the sacrifices my parents have made and continue to make every day.

I don’t believe ‘thank you’ can sum up the gratitude I have at this very moment. To everyone who has helped me on this very long, exhaustive, and transformative journey, I promise to not let you down. This is only the beginning of something great.”
