The School of Education’s Committee on Diversity and Civility, which meets monthly during the academic year, is seeking members.
The committee will meet on Tuesdays from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in room 222, except where indicated, of the Education Building on the following dates: September 19 (room 114); October 17 (room 114); November 21; December 19; January 16 (room 114); February 20; March 20; April 24; May 15; and June 19.
Interested faculty should select the Committee on Diversity and Civility (CODC) among the committees to serve when asked by the Dean’s Office in the fall. Staff and students should contact Yolanda Abel about membership.
The CODC seeks to promote a culture of inclusion and civility within the school, reviews school policies to ensure they are inclusive, contributes to the school’s annual diversity report submitted to the provost’s office, conducts and responds to climate surveys and organizes professional development workshops. It also works to increase knowledge and understanding of diversity issues, takes an active role in projects with a diversity focus and identifies opportunities to promote inclusion and civility within the school.
The CODC is a standing committee and chaired by an associate professor (research), full professor (research), associate professor (clinical) or full professor (clinical). It consists of one faculty member from each area of emphasis and center, the Division of Public Safety and Leadership, administrators and students.
