The Johns Hopkins School of Education has once again been recognized among the nation's best, as per the 2024-2025 list of Best Education Schools by U.S. News & World Report.
The Johns Hopkins School of Education is again ranked among the best in the nation, according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2024-2025 list of Best Education Schools. In the ranking, released on April 9, 2024, the School of Education moved to a shared No. 8 position, up five spots from last year.
Among other contributing factors, the school performed exceptionally well in research expenditures among its peer group. The school also tied for No. 23 in the important specialty area of Best Higher Education Administration Programs. Schools ranked in specialty areas must have received at least seven nominations from education school deans and education school deans of graduate studies.
“I’m pleased that many of our colleagues and peers across the country have again recognized our research and programs as among the nation’s best,” said School of Education Dean Christopher Morphew. “I think the news reflects our solid, ongoing progress as a rigorous, innovative graduate school at the nation’s leading research university. But I’m most proud of our real impact in schools and communities, training outstanding education leaders and delivering evidence-based solutions to difficult education challenges.”
Since it was established as a stand-alone division of Johns Hopkins University in 2007, the School of Education has been recognized annually by the publication as one of the nation’s top 20 graduate schools of education. In 10 of those years, including the current year’s rankings, the school has appeared among the top 10.
The school shares the No. 8 spot with five other institutions: Harvard Graduate School of Education; New York University Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development; Stanford Graduate School of Education; University of Texas at Austin College of Education; and University of Virginia School of Education and Human Development.
In compiling the list, U.S. News & World Report ranked 255 schools of education that grant doctoral degrees and have enrolled at least 10 doctoral students in fall 2023 and early 2024. The current rankings methodology weighs research activity, quality assessment, faculty resources, and student selectivity.
