Michelle Muratori was a Faculty Associate in the Johns Hopkins School of Education for 18 years prior to joining the faculty full-time as a Lecturer in the Department of Counseling and Educational Studies. She also held the positions of Assistant Director of Student Support, CTY Scholars Educational Advisor, and Senior Counselor at the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth (CTY) before transitioning into a full-time faculty role. Michelle earned her MA in counseling psychology from Northwestern University and her PhD in counselor education from the University of Iowa. In 2014, she was honored with the Johns Hopkins University Alumni Association Excellence in Teaching Award. She regularly presents at national conferences in counseling and delivered the opening keynote address (with Drs. Gerald Corey, Jude Austin II, and Julius Austin) at the American Counseling Association’s Virtual Conference Experience in 2021. In addition to ACA, she is a member of the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, the Association for Specialists in Group Work, and the Maryland Counseling Association. Michelle has coauthored several books published by ACA, including the first and second editions of Counselor Self-Care (2018, 2024), the second and third editions of Clinical Supervision in the Helping Professions: A Practical Guide (2010, 2021), and Coping Skills for a Stressful World: A Workbook for Counselors and Clients (2020). Michelle has a passion for group work and for facilitating the personal and professional development of counselor trainees.
