Johns Hopkins Assistant Professor Eric Mayes delivered the research presentation “Cognition & Culture: The Situated Context of Reading Comprehension” at the World Education Research Association (WERA) 2018 World Congress in Cape Town, South Africa, August 3 to 5. He also published, with doctoral candidate Katchia Gethers, “Transformational Leadership: Creating a Learning Culture in an Age of Accountability,” a paper in the Fall 2018 issue of the American Association of Schools Administrators Journal of Scholarship & Practice.
Last spring, Mayes presented “Innovative and Culturally Responsive Leadership Models for a Changing Educational Landscape,” a paper co-authored with 2018 PhD graduate Stephanie Fakharzadeh, at the 6th International Conference on Professional Doctorates, in London, UK. He also spoke on issues of educational access and equity at events hosted by the Johns Hopkins Alumni Association of the United Kingdom and the Harvard Club of the United Kingdom.
