Established in 2004, The Center for Research and Reform in Education (CRRE) works to improve the quality of education for children in grades pre-K to 12 through its research into program effectiveness. Specifically, CRRE’s work focuses on developing and evaluating alternative approaches to teaching and school organization, with studies completed on comprehensive school reform, data-driven reform, cooperative learning, bilingual education, reading and math strategies, and after school and summer learning programs.

Within CRRE, a federally funded research center, the Center for Data-Driven Reform in Education (CDDRE), was created to help low-performing schools meet their state's academic performance standards. CDDRE was active from 2004 – 2009. During that time, CDDRE staff used student performance data to evaluate the success of data-driven reform strategies and help district and school leaders plan to meet state standards.

CRRE offers various resources for educators, researchers, and policy makers who are seeking research on program effectiveness, including the Best Evidence Encyclopedia website, Better: Evidence-based Education magazine, a Best Evidence in Brief e-newsletter, and a blog focused on evidence-based education reform.
