Teri Murray, who joined the SOE in 2018, oversees all functions and services pertaining to a student’s experience outside of the classroom. Areas of oversight include student affairs, enrollment services, academic advising, career services, student engagement and accountability, international student support, community building, academic and student policies, and academic integrity. With a focus on students and their overall success, the School employs a comprehensive and strategic approach to recruiting, engaging, sustaining and supporting students throughout the entire student life cycle, from prospect to graduate.

Murray has worked her entire career (36 years) in a variety of areas within higher education, including academic advising, admissions and student affairs. Prior to Hopkins, Murray spent 22 years at Penn State University, most recently serving as Director of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at Penn State Berks.

At the SOE, Murray has led the expansion of the student services teams, developed the SOE Student Emergency Fund, launched centralized academic advising, successfully campaigned for SOE students to have access to JHU Homewood health and well-being resources, and has become the school’s champion for student-centeredness and advocacy.

Murray holds a master’s degree in higher education administration with a concentration in sports management and a bachelor’s degree in journalism/public relations, both from West Virginia University.
