Special Education
The following initiatives are a result of a collaboration with the Maryland State Department of Education’s Division of Early Intervention and Special Education Services (DEI/SES).
We help narrow achievement gaps for young people with disabilities from birth to 21 by supporting the goals and strategies of the DEI/SES strategic plan in the following ways:
Online Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) and Individualized Education Program (IEP)
Maryland’s Online IFSP and IEP are secure web-based applications that serve as the primary data systems for state and local administrators, service coordinators, and providers working with children with disabilities and their families.
Maryland Transition Digital Portfolio
Building upon 20 years of research as one of the first developers of digital portfolios, this portfolio helps middle and high school students with disabilities organize and showcase their achievements and goals towards college, career, and community readiness.
Maryland Learning Links
Maryland Learning Links is an online portal that provides educators and district leaders with the special education resources, guidance, and support they need to improve outcomes for students with disabilities. The portal is structured around the Division’s three strategic imperatives: Early Childhood; Access, Equity, and Progress; and Secondary Transition.
Maryland Assistive Technology Network (MATN)
MATN connects educators, families, policy-makers, and leaders who are committed to using assistive and accessible technology to support learners with diverse needs. We support inclusive learning and increased independence through the exchange of ideas around technology tools, services, and processes, and strive to bring assistive technology to the forefront of education.
