Overview

The Safe and Healthy Schools Certification Program is for preK-12 educators, support personnel, leadership, schools, and districts who want to create an environment that fosters a safe and healthy mindset. Participants complete a comprehensive, evidence-based curriculum focused on key topics schools are facing today, and explore ways to safeguard their school community.

Program Description

As part of its commitment to establishing safe and healthy learning environments, the Johns Hopkins School of Education Center for Safe and Healthy Schools, powered by education company Klassroom, launched the Safe and Healthy Schools Certification Program.

The program is intended to unite communities across the country through comprehensive, evidence-based learning that’s available online to school teachers and leaders everywhere.

The primary focus of the program is helping schools understand what a safe and healthy school means, how to create an environment that embodies and fosters a “safe and healthy” mindset, and how to maintain this as a school and a community.

The Johns Hopkins Safe and Healthy Schools Certification Program consists of five comprehensive courses. The content in each course systematically reflects in-depth research and best-practice learning focused on the key topics schools are facing today.

Individual teachers can enroll in ten hours of training, individual school leaders can enroll in 50 hours of training, or schools can enroll at least 70 percent of their teachers and at least one leader to earn a Safe and Healthy Schools Certification.
