The online Mind, Brain, and Teaching (MBT) graduate certificate program draws from educationally relevant learning sciences research, which includes cognitive science, psychology, neuropsychology, and neuroscience.

The MBT certificate integrates these diverse neuroeducation disciplines to explore human learning and development and apply findings to educational contexts. MBT certificate graduates will understand how research and practice-based knowledge can be integrated to shape the future of education. Particular attention is given to leveraging culturally relevant neuroeducation practices and policies to advocate for and advance equity in all education environments.

Program Overview

The Mind, Brain, and Teaching (MBT) certificate program builds upon basic and applied neuroeducation research from cognitive science, psychology, neuropsychology, and neuroscience, integrating this research-based knowledge to inform equitable educational practices and policies. Courses integrate these diverse disciplines to explore human learning and development. Topics of study include emotion and learning, memory, attention, cognitive development, learning differences, literacy, and numeracy. The intricate relationships among these overlapping and integrated topics are explored throughout the courses to help inform effective, inclusive educational practices. To foster a vibrant online learning community, the courses are offered in sequential order within a cohort structure.

The 15-credit graduate certificate is designed for learners from multiple professions seeking to explore ways that research in the learning sciences can shape the future of education through equitable neuroeducation practices and policies. The program is designed for:
