Antigoni Papadimitriou, PhD

Assistant Professor

Antigoni Papadimitriou, an expert in quality management, strategic planning and organizational change, is an assistant professor of leadership in the Division of Public Safety Leadership. She is the editor of the recently published book, Competition in Higher Education Branding and Marketing, in which she contributed the chapter “Using a Mixed Methods Approach to Examine (Re)Imaging of Higher Education Institutions in the Western Balkans.” The book, published by Palgrave Macmillan, provides a critical examination of branding and marketing in higher education from national, regional and global perspectives.

She also is the author of The Enigma of Quality in Greek Higher Education: A Mixed Methods Study of Introducing Quality Management into Greek Higher Education, published in 2011, and more than 20 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters.

Before joining the Johns Hopkins School of Education, Papadimitriou was an associate professor of management and chair of the management and leadership program at Hellenic College in Brookline, Mass. She also was a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Educational Research at the University of Oslo, Norway.

Papadimitriou holds a Ph.D. from the University of Twente, School of Management and Governance, Center for Higher Education Policy Studies (CHEPS) in the Netherlands, a master of science degree in higher education administration from Baruch College at the City University of New York, and a bachelor of arts degree in business economics from Aristotle University in Thessaloniki, Greece.

Since August 2018, she has been an executive board member of the European Higher Education Society and of the Mixed Methods International Research Association. She is a member of Comparative and International Education Society’s higher education awards committee (for dissertations). She also serves as a faculty board member for the JHU Press  and an editorial board member for the International Journal of Multiple Research Approach and the Total Quality Management Journal.​ Recently, as a conference chair, she organized the 15th International Conference on Higher Education Reform,  Reinventing the Public Mission of Higher Education: Policies and Practice.
