{"id":874,"date":"2025-08-07T14:04:36","date_gmt":"2025-08-07T14:04:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/education.jhu.edu\/cte\/solutions\/dynamic-impact\/dynamic-impact-routines-based-interview\/"},"modified":"2025-08-07T14:42:24","modified_gmt":"2025-08-07T14:42:24","slug":"routines-based-interview","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/education.jhu.edu\/cte\/solutions\/dynamic-impact\/routines-based-interview\/","title":{"rendered":"Dynamic Impact: Routines-Based Interview"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"121\" data-end=\"330\"><strong data-start=\"121\" data-end=\"159\">The Routines-Based Interview (RBI)<\/strong> is a research-based intervention developed by <strong data-start=\"206\" data-end=\"226\">Robin McWilliams<\/strong> that helps assess the needs of children with disabilities, their families, and their service providers.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"332\" data-end=\"648\">Interviews that last no longer than two hours and are often conducted in the family\u2019s home gather information about the day-to-day activities of the child and their family, build strong relationships between family members and caregivers, and create functional and meaningful outcomes for the child and their family.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"650\" data-end=\"850\">The RBI supports the family as the primary person in the child\u2019s life and meets the family where they are in order to expand on their skills and confidence, which allows their child to grow and learn.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"852\" data-end=\"958\">Through the <strong data-start=\"864\" data-end=\"882\">Dynamic Impact<\/strong> process, the <strong data-start=\"896\" data-end=\"948\">Johns Hopkins Center for Technology in Education<\/strong> provides:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"960\" data-end=\"1470\">\n<li data-start=\"960\" data-end=\"1019\">\n<p data-start=\"962\" data-end=\"1019\"><strong data-start=\"962\" data-end=\"1017\">Training and coaching for individual RBI providers.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1020\" data-end=\"1188\">\n<p data-start=\"1022\" data-end=\"1188\"><strong data-start=\"1022\" data-end=\"1068\">Training and coaching for RBI interviewers<\/strong> to assume the role of the coach and to build support in local systems for scaling up and sustaining the RBI practice.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1189\" data-end=\"1287\">\n<p data-start=\"1191\" data-end=\"1287\"><strong data-start=\"1191\" data-end=\"1234\">Support for state and local RBI coaches<\/strong> to advocate for their role in their jurisdictions.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1288\" data-end=\"1470\">\n<p data-start=\"1290\" data-end=\"1470\"><strong data-start=\"1290\" data-end=\"1337\">Assistance to local leaders and RBI coaches<\/strong> to develop a plan to assure ongoing fidelity to the practice as well as address systems change so that RBI can be fully implemented.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1472\" data-end=\"1628\"><strong data-start=\"1472\" data-end=\"1496\">For more information<\/strong> about the Dynamic Impact Routines-Based Interview process, email <strong data-start=\"1562\" data-end=\"1580\">Mary Hendricks<\/strong> at <a class=\"cursor-pointer\" rel=\"noopener\" data-start=\"1584\" data-end=\"1627\">mhendri6@jhu.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1472\" data-end=\"1628\">\n<a class=\"wysiwyg_button\" href=\"https:\/\/education.jhu.edu\/cte\/\" target=\"_self\"><span class=\"wysiwyg_button_label\">Learn More About CTE<\/span><\/a>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Routines-Based Interview (RBI) is a research-based intervention developed by Robin McWilliams that helps assess the needs of children with disabilities, their families, and their service providers.
