Jess Lee remembers the moment she knew she wanted to become a teacher. She was an intern at Travilah Elementary School in Gaithersburg, teaching basic division to a fourth-grader struggling with math. After much patience, persistence and practice, he learned how to do it on his own.

David Steiner Appointed to Maryland State Board of Education

David Steiner, executive director of the Johns Hopkins Institute for Education Policy, has been appointed to the Maryland State Board of Education for a four-year term by Gov. Larry Hogan. His appointment is effective retroactively to July 2016.
