ProMAT Application Process
If you are interested in being considered for Cohort 12 of the Montgomery ProMAT program option scheduled to begin in May 2010, please follow these steps:
- Review the program information for the Master of Arts in Teaching program.
- Obtain a copy of all transcripts and call Ms. Dee Jolles, program adviser, at (301) 916-1723 to schedule a transcript review conference to determine if any additional content coursework is required.
- Call the ProMAT office at (301) 294-7102 to find out the current status of your subject area.
- Complete an on-line application form. APPLICATION DEADLINE for Cohort 12 is April 15, 2010.
- Mail fee and required documents (including a resume, official transcripts, Praxis I, GRE, SAT, or ACT scores and one reference from an employer who can speak to your potential as a teacher).
- Respond to the required essay by answering the following questions:
- Why do you want to teach?
- Why will the Montgomery ProMAT program help you achieve your teaching goals?
- Email the Montgomery ProMAT office to let them know you have submitted an application to JHU.
- Make plans for the Praxis II Content Exam, which must be passed before June 2010.
Candidates are accepted on a rolling basis, so it is to your advantage to apply early.
Initial admission to Johns Hopkins University does not guarantee acceptance into the Montgomery ProMAT program option.
Once you have been approved for initial admission to JHU and have had your transcript review conference, you may be contacted and scheduled for an interview with JHU and MCPS personnel. Applicants will be informed of the decision of the interview team in writing. Applicants not selected for ProMAT may be eligible for other JHU program options.
Johns Hopkins University is an equal opportunity/affirmative action institution.
