Online Professional Resources and Communities

Preparing educators, professionals and families to effectively and efficiently meet the needs of Maryland’s children requires access to evidence-based resources and professional learning opportunities that are relevant, supported and sustained. Traditional models of face-to-face professional development and information sharing do not address the realities and complexities of scheduling, nor are they scalable to provide equitable access to all constituents across the State.

CTE’s resource portals – most often created with our various partners – provide users with access to online learning communities that engage in ongoing, high-quality professional development and knowledge sharing as part of a collaborative, supportive network of individual with similar interests and challenges. They use technology to build bridges to knowledge and community.

Some of the goals of CTE’s Online Professional Resources and Communities include:

  • Improving access to information, resources and professional development for Maryland educators, providers, administrators, policymakers, families, community members and students.
  • Promoting networking, collaboration, and information sharing among Maryland audiences to improve teaching and learning as well as services and supports provided to children, particularly those with special needs.
