Provost Announces SOE Dean Search Committee

Dear Colleague,

President Daniels and I are pleased to share with you the search committee for the Dean of the School of Education. The search committee, which I will chair, comprises faculty, staff and student representatives from the School of Education as well as academic and administrative leaders from across Johns Hopkins. We believe this group of esteemed individuals will do a terrific job in bringing many important perspectives to this search, which is one of the highest priorities for President Daniels and me.

The search committee has an enormous responsibility. The next dean will have the opportunity to build upon the outstanding programs, collaborations and partnerships that are the hallmarks of Ralph Fessler’s distinguished tenure as dean. She or he will also have the challenge of advancing the school’s mission -- and the greater mission of Johns Hopkins -- with regards to teaching, research and service. The next dean will be poised to lead the School of Education in its pursuit of becoming one of the pre-eminent schools of education in the nation.
