Jacqueline C. Haas, Harford County School Superintendent and a member of SOE’s Regional Advisory Board, died suddenly on Tuesday, December 30, after suffering an asthma attack.

Four researchers at SOE’s Center for Research and Reform in Education were recently honored for their work at the 89th annual meeting of the American Educational Research Association (AERA) in New York.
12/10/2008 - SOE to Offer Day Classes for MAT Students
SOE will offer daytime classes starting in the spring 2009 for students interested in beginning their Master of Arts in Teaching program or for those who are already enrolled in the FlexMAT or AMAT programs.

Yolanda Abel and Tamitha Campbell, who earned their doctorate in education last year, were named recipients of the Judith Ruchkin Research Award from the Maryland Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (MASCD).

Mary Catherine Stephens, MS Ed'88 and 2008 Carroll County Teacher of the Year, was a finalist in October’s Maryland Teacher of the Year competition.

Teachers have a greater impact than new textbooks or computers when it comes to raising math scores, according to a comprehensive research review by the Johns Hopkins University School of Education’s Center for Data-Driven Reform in Education.
