Faculty Bio
Amy Wilson has been working with urban students and teachers for almost 20 years. She did an urban teaching internship in the Chicago Public Schools, came to Baltimore with Teach For America in 1992 and has been in Baltimore ever since. After teaching third and fifth grades at Fort Worthington Elementary in east Baltimore, she wrote math curriculum for the Success For All Foundation before moving into teacher education. In the Department of Teacher Preparation in the School of Education at Johns Hopkins, she works primarily with Teach For America teachers who choose to pursue their Master of Arts in Teaching degrees. She teaches courses in urban school reform; curriculum, instruction and assessment; and classroom management, motivation and communication. Her main areas of interest are urban teacher preparation, high quality university supervision, and elementary math instruction.
