Faculty Bio
In 2002, I retired from the Baltimore City Public School System as an elementary school principal. After 34 years as a teacher and administrator in an urban system I felt the need to continue to support new teachers and administrators. My role at Johns Hopkins School of Education is currently a coordinator and instructor within the Department of Teacher Preparation. For the past seven years I have served as the coordinator the Baltimore City Teaching Residency program (BCTR), an alternative certification program designed for the career changer teacher. This program is in partnership with the Baltimore City Public Schools. I have also served as a principal mentor for new administrators in the city schools.
In my role as instructor, I teach a variety of courses for elementary and early childhood MAT candidates. I advise approximately 70 students and guide them through the MAT program.I also coordinate several courses such as Methods of Teaching in the Elementary School by developing the syllabi and mentoring new faculty associates.
Additionally, I participate on several committees including the Faculty Professional Development Committee and Portfolio Development.Recently, I have also collaborated with faculty on the development of two grants focusing on science education.
