Biography

Ileana Gonzalez, assistant professor in the area of counseling and human development, joined the faculty in 2012. As the coordinator for the School Counseling’s Fellows Program, she is a strong believer in equity and access to a quality education for all students, and believes school counselors are the key to achieving these outcomes. She holds a doctoral degree from the University of Maryland, College Park, in counselor education. Prior to her doctoral work, she served as an urban high school counselor in South Florida, serving primarily Caribbean immigrant populations. Her research interests include examining the commitment of urban school counselors to social justice issues. She has served as the chapter faculty advisor for the Lambda chapter of Chi Sigma Iota, International Counseling Honor Society, since 2012.
