Teacher Development and Leadership
The program leading to the Doctor of Education (Ed. D.), with a concentration in Teacher Development and Leadership, is designed to prepare educational leaders for a wide variety of professional positions including K-12 administration and supervision, data-based decision-making, research, higher education, and state and national policy making. The goal is to prepare professionals who possess the knowledge and skills needed to provide leadership and produce meaningful change in educational organizations.
Students are expected to possess substantial knowledge and experience upon admission. The program of study is intended to expand the students' ability to understand, analyze, interpret, and act upon data in order to improve success in attaining organizational goals in educational contexts. Students will also generate and disseminate new information and knowledge as they participate in and successfully complete their studies.
Admission to the doctoral program in teacher development and leadership is limited to a small number of highly qualified individuals selected as a cohort. In general, a new cohort begins every two to three years. The next cohort is tentatively scheduled for January 2010 with the application process beginning in the spring of 2009.
