Program Structure
Candidates must complete a minimum 99 credits beyond the baccalaureate degree, with at least 51 of those credits taken at the doctoral level. Graduate credits earned must satisfy minimum requirements in each of the following areas of study:
| Measurement, Research, and Statistics | 15-18 |
| Major Areas of Study | 24-36 |
| Supportive Areas of Study | 12-24 |
| Doctoral Seminars | 9 |
| Internship | 12 |
| Dissertation Research and Dissertation Research Seminar | 12 |
Students choose major and supportive area courses in consultation with their major advisers. Measurement, research, and statistics are basic to all program areas and may not be selected as a supportive area.
Comprehensive Examinations
Once the student has completed the required coursework in either the major area or one of the supportive areas, written qualifying examinations in that area may be scheduled. Students should successfully complete these examinations before beginning their dissertation research.
Dissertation and Oral Examination
Under the direction of the major adviser, each student designs and completes a research dissertation. An oral defense of the dissertation is presented at the conclusion of this process.
