Application Procedures and Downloadable Forms

Prior to the start of the application process, the prospective student should meet with the chair of Doctoral Studies. Applicants to the doctoral program in special education must obtain and complete the application form for admission from the School of Education, Department of Special Education.

Applicants are responsible for ensuring that their application files contain all the required information prior to the application deadline. The application materials include:

  • Completed doctoral application form
  • A personal statement describing professional goals and expectations
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Three letters of recommendation submitted by (a) college or university faculty acquainted with the applicant's academic work*, and/or (b) supervisors or administrators who have observed the applicant's professional performance*
  • A check or money order for the application fee made payable to the Johns Hopkins University
  • Satisfactory scores or the Graduate Record Examination (GRE)
  • Official transcripts of all prior college or university work (applications will not be considered complete until official transcripts for all college level work have been received)
