Although the next doctoral cohort is tentatively scheduled for 2010, applications are not being accepted at this time. Please contact the Department of Special Education at 410-516-8275 if interested in applying.
Applicants for the doctoral program in special education should have advanced academic preparation and work experience in special education or a closely related area. To be considered for admission to the doctoral program in special education, applicants are expected to meet the following qualifications:
- A baccalaureate, master's, or doctoral degree, or certificate of advanced graduate study, from an accredited college or university. Preference will be given to applicants holding master's degrees, doctoral degrees, or certificates of advanced graduate study in special education
- A minimum of 3.0 cumulative grade point average in all prior academic work, including work done at the undergraduate level
- Previous degree earned in special education in an area of study closely associated with special education
- Demonstrated ability in the field through professional experience and scholarly activity
- Satisfactory scores on the Graduate Record Examination
- Three letters of recommendation that identify the applicant's professional qualification and potential for success in the doctoral program
