School of Education at Johns Hopkins University - Graduate Education Programs:

Weather and Emergency Information

Weather and emergency information is posted in each classroom, and staff at each center have an emergency and crisis management plan that is available for review upon request.

If the school closes because of inclement weather or other unforeseen conditions, the centers where classes are held or any of the following JHU Weather Hotlines will be updated immediately:

  • In Baltimore, call 410-516-7781.
  • Outside the local Baltimore calling area, dial 1-800-548-9004.
  • Montgomery County Campus Weather Emergency Line, call 301-294-7024.

You can visit the JHU Web site for emergency notices, including inclement weather announcements. Announcements concerning weather are also made on the Baltimore and Washington radio and television stations listed below. The decision to cancel late afternoon or evening classes is not made until 1 p.m.; Saturday decisions are made at 6 a.m.

Radio:
WMAL-AM 630, WTOP-AM 1500, WBAL-AM 1090, WYPR-FM 88.1, WPOC-FM 93

Television:
WMAR-TV 2, WRC-TV 4, WJLA-TV 7, News Channel 8, WUSA-TV 9, WJZ-TV 13, WBAL-TV 11

Because of differing Baltimore and Washington weather conditions, the Montgomery County Campus or Columbia Center may close while the Homewood campus remains open. Listen carefully to radio and television announcements because all divisions of the university, including the School of Education, do not necessarily close at the same time.
