The Johns Hopkins University School of Education (SOE) is in the unique position of celebrating its origin — which can be traced to the 1909 founding of the Johns Hopkins' College Courses for Teachers — while at the same time celebrating its identity as a new, stand-alone School of Education.
We are proud of the fact that our history reflects leadership, innovation, adaptability, and scholarship. And while our name has changed a number of times over the years, a review of the past century reveals a common thread — our commitment to addressing the most challenging issues facing public education.
We invite you to celebrate with us. What follows is a listing of anniversary events planned for the 2008-2009 academic year.* Many of the events will feature distinguished SOE faculty discussing cutting-edge initiatives in education, made possible through generous support from the Arthur Lichtenstein Lecture Fund. If you have any questions, please call Darlene Singleton at (410) 516-4028 or email SOEanniversary@jhu.edu.
